CNN showed folks in India whooping it up with colored dry paint-type stuff. I'm not really clear on what was going on since I saw the report at the gym on their close-captioned tvs and whoever was doing the captioning was apparently on crack.
At Holi celebrations people squirt each other with water with colored powders dissolved in it or just pelt each other with the powder. The painting depicts Krishna and Radha joining in. In Bollywood musicals a Holi number provides an opportunity for the heroine to get playfully drenched.
I saw the coverage on CNN this morning. Their hearts were in the right place. They compared it to St. Patrick's Day, only with more colors than just green, and with bhang (cannabis) instead of beer...

So in other words CNN and the close-captioning typists were all on bhang.
